Discover the magic of reading with Amanda
About Amanda
After my first two jobs as a librarian’s assistant and a preschool teacher’s aide, I combined both of my passions for reading and working with children into helping young learners excel on their reading journeys. Whether your child is a first-time reader or working on grasping the concepts of reading, my background in various research-backed programs - including Lindamood-Bell, Wilson, and Read Naturally, along with my own 25+ years of on-the-job experience - will address underlying weaknesses and improve your child’s performance. I offer one-on-one online and in-person assessments and tutoring services for reading that will help your child meet his or her learning potential.
My goal is not only to improve reading, but to instill a love of reading for life!
As a former Lindamood-Bell center manager and program director for Lindamood-Bell programs in private schools, I primarily utilize Seeing Stars, Lindamood-Bell Phoneme Sequencing Program (LiPS), and the Visualizing and Verbalizing programs. I also provide general educational support for homework, writing, and other school projects.
Based in Massachusetts, I offer online services to all parts of the world, in all time zones.
Programs I use
-
For developing symbol imagery - this program develops the ability to visualize sounds and letters in words - as a basis for orthographic awareness, phonemic awareness, word attack, word recognition, spelling, and contextual reading fluency.
-
This program is a multi-sensory, process-based, structured phonics intervention program that aims to improve fluency by developing phonemic awareness with articulatory (kinesthetic) feedback such that students learn how their mouths produce and feel speech/reading sounds.
-
Visualizing and Verbalizing develops concept imagery - the ability to create an imagined or imaged gestalt from language - as a basis for comprehension and higher-order thinking skills.
-
Generalized academic support; effective learning techniques for students with learning differences such as ADD/ADHD and dyslexia; supplemental support for homeschooled students
Client Testimonials
Amanda has been working with my daughter, Maya, for almost 8 years and she has helped Maya tremendously. Not every child learns the same way, and Amanda knows how to cater to different learning styles.

Amanda worked with our son and then our daughter for over 5 years. Her skills and approach with children of all ages are so unique and refreshing to witness. Both of our children detested reading as it was incredibly challenging for them. Amanda's work with them transformed them both into avid readers. I always loved reading and very much wanted our children to have that level of appreciation for books, too. It has been so gratifying to see their appreciation for this subject blossom.

Amanda was not Finn’s first tutor, but she was his last! Amanda came to us when our son was six or seven. He struggled with reading and had very little confidence. But, thanks to Amanda, he quickly came into his own and thrived. If not for Amanda, I don’t think he would be the reader and the confident person he is today. We are thankful for all she did for our son.

My husband and I were always awed by Amanda's endless patience and dedication. We refer her to anyone whose child is struggling with reading or simply needs some academic support. Reading is a critical life skill and Amanda ensures that all of her students are properly equipped and set for success. We could not recommend her more.
